The 2010 King's Hospital Past Pupils Matches took place in the school on the 24th March 2010.
The ladies played first. We had to borrow 2 current students to fill the team. There was a good mixture of past pupils, ranging from the class of 2000 to the class or 2009.
The ladies were, Carolyn Kelly, Leanne Kelly, Pamela Smithwick (G), Joyce Layden, Hollie Kirwan, Kristen Smith, Jenny Hughes, Nikita Teford and Natalia Coyle. They won 3-1, with Kristen Smith getting 2 and Jenny Hughes getting the other.
Unfortunately, the pitch was double booked and Navan HC turned up to train just as the ladies match was ending, so a compromise was agreed. The old boys would play the seniors for 25 mins, then the Seniors would play Navan for 25 and finally the old boys would play Navan for 25.
We had 12 old boys turn up, and again with a good mixture of youth and experience. The men were James Mulhall, Colin Huet, Derek Stacey, Gary Bayley (G), Steve Ashmore, Dan Tracey, Gar Hayden, Alex Kenny, Rob Lynch, John Pearson, Matthew Pluke and Adam Hanna.
In the old boys match against the seniors, the old boys came out on top by 2-0, with John Pearson and Colin Huet getting a goal apiece. It was a good, fast-paced match, which I hope the current seniors will learn from.
Then the seniors played Navan, I think the result was 1-0 to Navan, I'm not sure. Then the old boys played Navan, the result was 4-2 in favour of the old boys, Rob Lynch got a hat trick and Matthew Pluke got the other.
We went to the Dead Man's Inn after for a few drinks and a bite to eat. It was a good day, enjoyed by all, and hopefully this will become a regular fixture, as it has lasped in the last few years.
